Last week Amazon quietly opened a Kindle Store in Canada. It was a long time coming, and you’d think that Amazon would have wanted to let its Canadian customers know, but it didn’t. None of the Kindle owners in my circle knew about the store until I told them about it.
On the KDP side, I found out when I checked my reports and discovered that “Amazon.ca” had been added to the list of stores. I finally received an email about it yesterday. KDP account holders always seem to be the last to know.
The best news is that Amazon will now pay Canadians through direct deposit. No more cheques (and service charges), and you only need to break $10 to be paid, rather than $100. You can add your banking information by signing into KDP and going to your account profile.
Can CreateSpace be far behind? If only Lightning Source would follow suit…
